BCCS was formed in 2012 in Jamaica by Ms Geraldine Garwood Clinical Psychologist and Behavior Analyst
Geraldine Garwood is a Clinical Psychologist and Behavior Analyst who provides evidence-based consulting and counselling services, training and therapeutic behaviour modification intervention programs to organizations and individuals of any age who are diagnosed with developmental, emotional and behavioural disorders. Miss Garwood has a wealth of knowledge and experience in the field of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) which is a science in which the techniques derivative from the principles of learning are applied systematically to improve behaviours of interest (problem behaviours). Her passion is to see the principles of ABA extensively utilized in the Caribbean and globally to enhance the lives of individuals. This passion has driven her in academia where her goal is to impart knowledge and train others in the field. She is a full-time lecturer at the Jamaica Theological Seminary and program coordinator for the Bachelor of Arts Degree in Applied Behavior Analysis. She also aspires to develop policies for persons with disabilities.
She is also a training consultant to The Ministry of Education in Jamaica and has trained over 6000 educators as well as other stakeholders across the island in the Positive Behavior Intervention Support (PBIS) system that has been implemented in selected high schools. She endorses PBIS and believes that a systematic approach that is based on consistency, structure, and unity will transform any school climate as well as organizations. She conducts training at all educational levels and for organizations.
She attended the University of the West Indies and achieved a certificate of distinction in Social Work and moved on to the Jamaica Theological Seminary where she completed an undergraduate degree in Theology with a minor in Counseling. Miss Garwood received a masters degree in Clinical Psychology Applied Behavior Analysis Specialization from Chicago School of Professional Psychology. She is a trained Assessor with the National Council on Technical and Vocational Training (NCTVET). Miss Garwood is currently pursuing studies in Adult Education. She is also an Evangelist who believes in the integration of Christianity and psychology as a holistic approach for helping those served. Her philosophy “To whom much is given, much is required” (Luke 12:48).
