This is a prominent interactionist model which is also alluded to as the diatheses stress model. The model proposes that some people have susceptibilities (diatheses) for particular disorders. These disorders progress contingent on the type and severity of the stressors experienced. It examines biological, psychological, and social factors affecting individuals.
Base on this approach many individuals are predisposed to having a mental disorder or display abnormal behaviour due to genetics, and daily life stressors that affects them psychologically and emotionally.
During the COVID19 pandemic, societies must be proactive in providing therapeutic help to persons who have been seriously affected so as to minimize psychopathology.
